Texas
walnut, Texas black walnut, dwarf walnut. Juglans microcarpa is a small to medium
tree that reaches a height of only 20 - 30 feet. Little walnut grows
as a native tree from southwestern Kansas through Oklahoma and Texas, south into northeastern
Mexico.
The
leaves of the Texas walnut are alternate, odd-pinnately compound and 9 to 12 inches
long. There are 11 to 25 narrow serrate leaflets with small teeth. leaves The upper
portion of the leaflets are dark yellow to green. The lower
surface of the leaflets are paler. The smaller size narrower leaves of the Juglans microcarpa
make it seem lighter and more open than other members of the Juglans family.

Pictures
